Modi visits Israel - Dawn of Reality

THE SHIFT IN INDIAN FOREIGN POLICY SHOWS A RECOVERY FROM MYOPIA TO A 20/20 VISION

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent visit to Israel made many people uncomfortable. It was as disturbing to them as when one has been sleeping peacefully for a long long time, perhaps even dreaming and someone walks into the room and switches on the lights.

Such people were unhappy that Israel had been given the due recognition and respect that it deserved from India, after having been it's long standing ally. While India never hesitated to source advanced technologies from Israel, , it was always hesitant to openly support of endorse Israel. Much like a married husband who enjoys an affair but will never acknowledge his lover.

Indian foreign policy had become infested  and infected by pseudo intellectualism and more specifically pseudo secularism. It appeared to be based on some rather outlandish fallacies, illusions and politics of appeasement of minorities. Some of these probably were:
1. India is the moral guardian of this planet
2. India is indispensable
3. Through the might of morality the planet will bow to India and do as India wishes
4. If we support Muslims worldwide, our local minority population will vote for us.

As a result of such delusions, India cold shouldered the United States and Israel , restricted trade and even supported China become a permanent member of United Nations.

So while India chose to remain in it's deluded paradise, the rest of the world evolved. Countries like Singapore, China and UAE, progressed in leaps and bounds. The US never had to beg India for support, it simply found new allies, Pakistan being one of them.

China took a long hard look at itself, realized the mess it was in and started building itself up as a nation. After the fall of the USSR, it has clearly very close to establish itself as the next superpower after the USA. Its axis of influence through trade and alliances, goes to several countries like Pakistan, North Korea, Sri Lanka, Maldives , including many countries in Europe.

So Prime Minister Modi's visit to Israel (and to several other countries ) is not for a walk in the park. Its a matter of urgent requirement, necessity and compulsion. India has woken up a bit late and the party has already started. The Prime Minister is doing everything he can to make up for the delay. The high connectivity on the planet may result in a Tri Polar (as opposed to Bi Polar ) world. On one side the US and its allies. On the other side, China, Russia, Pakistan, North Korea and their allies. On the third side, rogue terrorist elements who are being weoponized by the 2 superpowers but radicalized by faith and ideological propaganda.

India can scant afford to sit by the fence. It needs to shed it's reluctance and develop alliances to survive or risk being a victim to inaction. Prime Minister Modi has chosen the side of peaceful progressive alliance without compromising the integrity of India. So while India gave millions of dollars in aid to Palestine, it also did not hesitate to offer trade contracts to Israel. While it has diputes with China over the border, its products are being actively promoted and sold in India.

This obviously makes some people uncomfortable. They would rather that India continue its earlier hypocritical and timid policy of appeasement of all and progress of none. Unfortunately, their criticisms only serves to fuel the radical Islamic terrorism narratives and put make India's development comatose.

While Prime Minister Modi's visit is being hailed as a pathbreaker and game changer, it was also the need of the hour.
